The Eden Prairie branch of America's #1 performance-based after school music education program the School of Rock, adds 700 square feet. In celebration community members are invited to an August 16th Open House.
PRLog - Jul. 21, 2014 - EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Eden Prairie School of Rock has added 700 square feet to its school, which now includes an in-house performance venue and a dedicated room for PreSchool music programs. An August 16th, 2014 Open House event is planned to celebrate the expansion.
“We were founded on the belief that taking music lessons and never playing a gig is like going to basketball practice and never playing a game….After a while there’s no point,” commented Stacey Marmolejo, franchise owner of the Eden Prairie school. “So we combine private lessons and group rehearsals which lead up to a live rock concert in a real rock venue.”
“When we opened in Eden Prairie in 2008 we only offered our core performance program for ages 8-18 and our 2500 square foot facility easily accommodated our programs,” explained Marmolejo when addressing the expansion. “Since then, we received frequent inquiries from parents for programs for students younger than 8. In response to those requests, we have added a preschool program for ages 2-5 and a Rookies program for ages 6-7. So we needed to add more space as those programs have grown.”
The Open House is scheduled for August 16, 12pm to 3pm. Activities include a free 30 minute music class for ages 2 and 3 at 1:30 and ages 4 and 5 at 2:15. The school's house band will perform classic rock favorites at 1pm and 2:30pm.
Everyone between 7 - 15 years old who attends the Open House will receive a gift certificate for a free private lesson, to be used at a future time. Snacks will be served and there will be giveaways during the Open House, according to the school's spokesperson.
The Eden Prairie School of Rock is a member of the 140-school network of School of Rock locations worldwide; including two locations in the Twin Cities.
In addition to its year-round curriculum, the School of Rock also offers summer camps, a School of Rock festival where all 17,000 students worldwide are invited to attend and, for advanced students, tour opportunities including performing at Summerfest (America’s Largest Music Festival), Lollapalooza in Chicago, Wildwood, New Jersey and Zappanale Festival in Bad Doberan, Germany.
