Cindy McGarrigle, West Florida Area Marketing Manager, Receives Regions Bank’s Top Associate Honor

Regions Bank (NYSE: RF) today announced that Cindy McGarrigle is the September 2014 recipient of the Regions Bank Better Life Award. McGarrigle is the bank’s marketing manager for the West Florida area. The Better Life Award is the top honor given to a Regions associate for outstanding dedication and job performance, as well as exemplary involvement and commitment to the community.

In addition to the recognition, Regions donates $1,000 in the name of the recipient to a charity of the winner’s choice. McGarrigle chose Academy Prep Centers for Education, a nonprofit middle school serving children from low-income families in Tampa and St. Petersburg, Florida. A video profile of McGarrigle is available on the Regions Financial YouTube channel.

McGarrigle joined Regions in 1980. She has earned a reputation as someone who can answer any question and pull off a special event with ease.

“I think Cindy may wear the Wonder Woman logo; she reads my mind and everyone else’s mind,” said Marty Lanahan, West Florida area president for Regions. “I told Cindy I wanted to create a relationship with the children at Academy Prep, and before I knew it, she did it.”

Regions is now a major partner for Academy Prep thanks to McGarrigle’s work. Under her leadership, each year a group of Regions associates adopts an incoming fifth grade class at the school, commits to providing financial education, sponsors field trips, and offers other enriching activities for that class until they graduate.

Earlier this year, McGarrigle organized a contest at Academy Prep. The contest required students to write about why saving money and giving back to the community are important. The school received donations from Regions in the names of the students who won the contest. But McGarrigle wanted to go a step further; she made sure the winners received a special, personalized award – an engraved iPad for their exceptional efforts.

“I’m so thankful to all the Regions associates who come with me to serve the Academy Prep students in ways they wouldn’t experience otherwise,” said McGarrigle. “It’s hard enough to get through school when you’ve got opportunities; when you’re starting below and you need that extra push, the fact that we are there for them means a lot to these children. We want to help them be successful and happy in life.”
