Sam’s Club to Open 80th Club in Texas, 20th in Houston Metro Area

Sam’s Club will open its newest club in the Houston-metro area this Thursday. The doors will officially open following an 8 a.m. grand opening ceremony at the club located at 22402 Bellaire Blvd., Richmond.

The event will focus on the company’s commitment to community. In addition to bringing 170 jobs to the area, the membership warehouse club will give residents and small business owners the opportunity to access incredible deals and amazing finds on quality merchandise, including products made in Texas.

“We are looking forward to serving this community both inside and outside of the club,” said Katy native and Club Manager Valerie Anderson. “From recently providing local high school students business education seminars to volunteering at the Tour de Ted Event to support MD Anderson, we will continue to do our part to be actively involved in this community.”

Sam’s Club associates selected several local organizations to receive $25,000 in community giving grants. In the last fiscal year, Sam’s Club, and parent company Walmart, gave more than $111 million to non-profits in the state of Texas. The following local organizations will be presented checks prior to Thursday’s grand opening:

Grand Opening ceremony features local officials, special events

Local officials and members of the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce and the Central Fort Bend Chamber will be among those in attendance at Thursday’s Grand Opening ceremony. Foster High School ROTC, led by Sergeant Meryl King will present colors and the Seven Lakes High School String Orchestra will perform the National Anthem at the grand opening.

Sam’s Club will showcase a variety of food samples and product demonstrations. Special showcase events include Texas favorite Jim and Lor’s Candy, Vitamix® Blenders and Café Verda coffee. Kountry Boy sausage from Brenham, Texas will also be on hand at the grand opening.

To add to the excitement of the grand opening, D.J. Swearinger, safety for the Houston Texans, will make a special appearance at the grand opening from 2 – 4 p.m. to meet with fans and sign autographs. Also, former quarterback for the Houston Oilers and Hall of Fame player, Warren Moon, will make a special guest appearance on Friday, November 7 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Free health screenings are offered monthly to both members and the public by the Sam’s Club Pharmacy. Grand opening screenings will assess cholesterol, blood pressure, vision, hearing and a variety of other wellness areas, and will run Thursday, November 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and November 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
