Blue Butterfly Receives the 2014 USA Best Book Finalist Award
PRLog - Nov. 16, 2014 - SNELLVILLE, Ga. -- On November 12, 2014 USA Book News released the winners and finalist for their 11th Annual 2014 USA Best Book Awards. “Blue Butterfly” by author Marian L. Thomas, received top honors as one of the Fiction: African-American Book Finalist.

In a recent press release published on the USA Book News website, (http://www.usabooknews.com) Jeffrey Keen, President and CEO of USA Book News, said this year’s contest yielded over 2,000 entries from mainstream and independent publishers, which were then narrowed down to over 400 winners and finalists.

“Receiving the finalist award is like getting a silver medal. Who wouldn’t take a silver medal? Yes, gold is wonderful, but finishing in the top amongst the thousands of books that enter, is awesome. I’ll take it,” said Marian.

Thomas is no stranger to the USA Best Book Awards. Her previous two titles, “My Father’s Colors” and “Strings of Colors”, both received such awards.

There has been much talk about black ballerinas in the media lately, with super-ballerinas like Misty Copeland blazing the front lines, it’s no wonder books such as “Blue Butterfly” –the contemporary fiction story of a woman struggling to become the first black ballerina, have become sought after reads.

“Misty Copeland is an inspiration to young black women who desire to dance in the world of ballet. Her determination to rise above the negativity is truly an inspiring story. One day I hope to meet Misty Copeland. I would tell her to keep flying,” said Marian.

Marian L. Thomas resides near Snellville, Georgia with her husband. She has written five contemporary fiction novels and recently released her first non-fiction title, "Living the Empty Carriage Way of Life," a hilarious, yet candid chapbook on her life-long decision to remain childless.
