Slacker Radio Expands to Toyota and Lexus with New Custom App

Slacker Radio, the leader in personalized streaming radio services, today revealed a partnership with Toyota and Lexus in North America to deliver the next generation of radio. The brand new Slacker Radio app is available now to owners of select Lexus models and coming soon to select Toyotas from model years 2011 to 2015, expanding Slacker Radio service to more than two million cars in North America.

“Slacker is helping to evolve the way people think about car radio,” said Duncan Orrell-Jones, CEO, Slacker Radio. “We’re combining the personal, curated feel of traditional radio with the ability for every driver to quickly find the type of programming they want right now. Now in Toyota and Lexus vehicles, we are adding hands-free, voice-activated search functionality, allowing our listeners to be focused on the road ahead.”

Slacker Radio will be added as part of an update for select Toyota Entune and Lexus Enform App Suites. The new app adds deeper functionality and access to the Slacker Radio service, giving Toyota and Lexus owners the ability to create uniquely personalized radio stations, tune into hundreds of curated radio stations (including comedy and programming from ESPN and ABC News), instantly play music that matches their mood with MyVibe and quickly find bookmarked stations, artists and on demand playlists with MyMusic.

“Toyota Entune and Lexus Enform App Suites provide versatile in-dash multi-media systems that connect our owners to convenient, easy and up-to-date content,” said Sandy Lobenstein, VP Connected Vehicle Technology & Planning, Toyota. “The content of the Slacker Radio app is a good fit for our audio offerings and we are excited to have it as an addition to our 'App Suites.'”

Toyota Entune & Lexus Enform owners will have immediate, free access to Slacker Basic service, with the ability to easily upgrade to Slacker Plus or Premium. Slacker Plus is $3.99 a month, and lets users have an ad-free experience, listen offline to reduce data usage and customize ESPN and ABC News feeds, all ad-free. Slacker Premium combines those features with on-demand access to Slacker Radio’s library of more than 13 million songs for only $9.99 a month.
