Guidance Software Appoints Chad McManamy as its Vice President of E-Discovery

Guidance Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: GUID), the World Leader in Digital Investigations™, today announced the appointment of Chad McManamy, Esq., as Vice President of E-Discovery and Assistant General Counsel. In this position, McManamy will work with judicial, legal industry and corporate e-discovery professionals to ensure that their specific needs are represented in the further development of the company’s EnCase® eDiscovery products, at a time when global data-protection, privacy, and legal technology requirements are undergoing rapid change.

In this new role, McManamy will serve as the lead authority driving Guidance Software’s e-discovery marketing and sales approaches, serving as the “voice of the customer” in the product development process, as well as continuing his work as a thought leader in the industry. He will oversee the internal planning process to determine how Guidance Software’s e-discovery solutions can best address the market. In addition, McManamy will act as a thought leader externally on matters pertaining to e-discovery by speaking at conferences and on webinars, authoring articles and blogging. He is also one of the core leaders in designing the go-to-market strategy for Linked Review™—the groundbreaking technology assisted review (TAR) capability of EnCase eDiscovery that has proven highly effective in market trials.

Chad is a proven leader in the e-discovery field and the insight he has gained from years of multi-national litigation and serving as in-house counsel ensures we continuously innovate and support our customers,” said Mark Harrington, senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Guidance Software. “In this role, Chad’s customer-centric approach to solving real-world problems will influence the development of the next generation of Guidance Software e-discovery solutions as the company continues to expand its e-discovery leadership.”

Having been Senior Counsel and Assistant General Counsel at Guidance Software since 2009, McManamy has worked closely with influential judges, Fortune 100 legal teams, and government and law-enforcement agencies. He is a frequent presenter at legal and security technology conferences, such as the RSA Conference and Today’s General Counsel roundtable events, and has provided commentary on e-discovery rulings and industry colloquia such as the Sedona Conference Institute Program.

“I joined Guidance almost six years ago because of the strength of the e-discovery solution at that time. Since then, EnCase eDiscovery has outpaced nearly every other e-discovery product in the market in its breadth of automating e-discovery processes,” said McManamy. “I look forward to extending our market leadership with a comprehensive solution that meets the needs of all organizations dealing with litigation, internal investigations and/or regulatory inquiries. I expect to see continued success for our many existing customers as well as for the many new customers adopting our solution as our world-class product development team innovates and evolves EnCase eDiscovery.”

Earlier in his career, McManamy spent six years working on antitrust lawsuits involving multinational companies with potential fines in the billions of dollars. With e-discovery at the heart of effective litigation and legal defense, these exceptional cases were instrumental in helping him learn the practical needs of legal teams in an age when cases may involve collecting evidence from terabytes of data stored on a myriad of devices and in geographically disparate locations.
