Innovative photographic techniques yield rarely seen perspectives of African wildlife

Perth, Australia – March 9, 2015 – Passionate photographers, Kym and Tonya Illman, have spent years photographing African wildlife using an array of groundbreaking photographic techniques including remote controlled buggies, hidden cameras and quadcopters.

They’ve included more than 110 of their finest images along with the story behind each one, in a new 204-page, large format, glossy photo book entitled Africa on Safari. TheIllmans have turned to the crowdfunding community on Kickstarter to raise $12,000 AUD by April 4th to help market the book. UK-based Papadakis Publisher has picked up Africa on Safari and will publish this fascinating book once the campaign has been fulfilled.

While Kym and Tonya’s unusual approach to wildlife photography has seen them lose a number of cameras to lions, the resultant low- and wide-angle images provide a dramatically different perspective of African wildlife.  Their journey has been a labor of lover involving thousands of hours travelling the roughest roads in Africa, staying at more than 34 camps in 6 countries.

From the brutality of the food chain to the more playful side of animals in their natural habitat, Africa on Safari hits the mark in every way. The Behind the Lens section features valuable advice about the perfect African safari e.g. areas to visit, the best camps, medical kit essentials, transport tips and much more.

Unlike most photographers, the Illmans have chosen to lay bare, their photographic secrets. This rare insight will be relished by both novice and professional photographers.

This is the couple’s first African wildlife photo book but already the compelling images and unique content have received praise from notable magazines such as BBC Wildlife, Africa Geographic, South Africa’s Getaway, and Australia’s Digital Photography.

Now they need help bringing this labor of love to life and into the hands of people around the world. Those who wish to support the project and receive their book/s before the planned October release date, can visit the Kickstarter campaign or click here. Backers can choose from a range of attractive perks and receive regular updates and “Behind the Scenes” videos of the Illman’s epic adventure.

This is an “all-or-nothing” deal, so if they do not meet the goal then the project cannot move forward! Share the campaign on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks please. The heightened awareness will get them closer to reaching their goal!
