Arrow Electronics Named Preferred Distributor of Freescale’s New Single Chip Module for the Internet of Things

Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW) today announced at the Freescale Technology Forum that it has been named the preferred distributor of the i.MX 6Dual Single Chip Module (SCM), the first product in Freescale Semiconductor’s new SCM line of products. Arrow will begin offering the i.MX 6Dual SCM in August.

“Arrow is thrilled to serve as the preferred distributor for the first product in Freescale’s innovative new SCM line,” said Aiden Mitchell, vice president of semiconductor marketing for Arrow. “Integrated single-chip modules like the i.MX 6Dual SCM are pushing the limits on size and helping to propel exciting new Internet of Things designs to the market faster.”

The products in Freescale’s new SCM line will integrate hundreds of components into a small package about the size of a U.S. dime. In addition to reducing the overall size of hardware solutions, Freescale SCM products will also reduce hardware development time; SCM products will be delivered as fully tested and software-enabled turnkey solutions for consumer and industrial applications, which will dramatically reduce their time to market.
