Sanmina (Nasdaq: SANM) reported sharply higher fourth quarter earnings that topped analyst estimates and forecast current quarter earnings above expectations.
NeoPhotonics (NYSE: NPTN) swung to a greater than expected profit for the third quarter.
On the downside
Demandware (NYSE: DWRE) widened third quarter losses even as revenue rose.
Shares of Encore Capital Group (Nasdaq: ECPG) fell ahead of its earnings release after market close on Thursday.
Targa Resources (NYSE: TRGP) will buy all the outstanding common units of Targa Resource Partners (NYSE: NGLS) that it does not already own.
In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of 7 to 5 on the NYSE and by nearly 3 to 2 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 gained 5 points to 2,109. Bitcoin soared $35 to $385.
