Werner Enterprises Recognized as a Military Friendly® Employer

Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ:WERN), a premier transportation and logistics provider, was named this week by GI Jobs® magazine as a “Top 100 Military Friendly® Employer for 2016” and a “Top 50 Military Spouse Employer for 2016.”

This is the tenth time Werner has been named as a Top 100 Military Friendly® Employer and the second time as a Top 50 Military Spouse Employer. The magazine ranks companies on the strength of their military recruiting efforts, percentage of new hires with prior active military service and policies toward National Guard and Reserve services.

“We owe our military veterans a huge debt of gratitude for the sacrifices they make while serving our country,” President and COO Derek Leathers said. “With that in mind, it has become our mission to create the best opportunities available for veterans and their families as they return to civilian life and transition to new careers.”

Werner widely has been acknowledged for its efforts to ease the transition of military veterans into the workplace, including its Professional Truck Driver Apprenticeship that allows veterans to use their benefits to pay for training while receiving on-the-job instruction. Werner has hired more than 6,500 veterans since 2012 and more than 350 veteran spouses since May 2013, surpassing the pledge it made in 2012 under the White House campaign Joining Forces to hire 1,000 veterans per year for the next five years. Werner has pledged to hire 2,200 veterans and 200 veteran spouses in 2015.
