Study Presented In The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics Shows Chiropractic Manipulation Effective In The Treatment of Herniated Discs

The proportion of patients reporting clinically relevant improvement in this current study is surprisingly good, with nearly 70% of patients improved as early as 2 weeks after the start of treatment. By 3 months, this figure was up to 90.5% and then stabilized at 6 months and 1 year.

Brainerd, Minnesota – November 24, 2015 – Yet another study has been published showing the efficacy of chiropractic manipulation in the treatment of herniated discs. Many Americans become disabled as a result of a herniated disc in the lumbar spine. It can be quite painful as well as causing sciatica. The goal is to restore the natural spacing between the vertebra so that the bulging disc can be drawn back in place. The study presented In The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics involved 148 patients with low back pain, leg pain, and physically examined abnormalities consistent with lumbar disc herniations. All patients in this study had back pain and moderate to severe leg pain, and an MRI proven lateral disc herniation at the corresponding symptomatic spinal segment. At the end of 3 months over 90% of participants reported significant improvement in their condition. Interestingly this is nearly 3 times the success rate of spinal injections.

A large percentage of acute and importantly chronic lumbar disc herniation patients treated with chiropractic spinal manipulation reported clinically relevant improvement with no adverse events reported. These results are very impressive and support a non-invasive approach to herniated disc treatment. Not every Chiropractor is the same. Some of them graduate from chiropractic college and do not aggressively upgrade their education, and some of them continue to seek advanced degrees and certifications. Brainerd’s  Dr. Jim Davis is clearly one of the chiropractic doctors that is always seeking to expand his knowledge base. He is a board certified chiropractor who received his doctor of chiropractic degree from Northwestern College of Chiropractic and opened his practice in Brainerd in 1997. He obtained a diplomate degree in pediatrics in 2004 following completion of a three year Pediatric post graduate program with the Academy of Chiropractic Family Practice.

Dr. Jim Davis, of Live Well Chiropractic, is only one of 250 doctors of chiropractic in the United States to obtain this prestigious honor. He also was awarded his Wellness Certification from the International Chiropractic Association Council on Wellness Science. Dr. Davis has also received a post graduate certification in Whiplash and Spinal Trauma through the Spine Research Institute of San Diego and is only one of 600 chiropractors in the world to have achieved the 120-hour degree in Chiropractic Certification in Spinal Trauma. This is the reason that so many patients travel many miles to be treated at the Live Well Chiropractic Clinic in Brainerd, MN. Patient Testimonials tell the story, and this is a story of healing and wellbeing. Take a look at what JJ, a Verified Patient, had to say: “I had headaches almost daily, ranging from mild to severe. I could get some relief from meds but never really felt well. After seeing Dr. Jim for a few weeks, the headaches decreased in frequency and intensity and then disappeared completely. I haven’t had to buy ibuprofen for years!”
