SARASOTA, Fla. - Dec. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- After being awarded the design contract for Suncoast Technical College’s South Campus in North Port, FL, nationally recognized architectural firm SchenkelShultz once again turned to Jim Richards to serve as their Food Service Consultant. In 2009, Richards served SchenkelShultz as the lead consultant on Suncoast Technical College’s Sarasota Campus. His cutting edge design of a culinary arts teaching kitchen, restaurant and kiosk included a modern open-style kitchen with custom cooking island suites, a culinary lab, and a full bakery, among other amenities. Richards has now been commissioned by the Sarasota County School Board to replicate his successful design in the Suncoast Technical College North Port Campus set to open in 2017. The facility at the North Port campus will once again feature an open-style kitchen where students will train in culinary skills, restaurant management and eventually run the Bistro style restaurant as part of their training. The Bistro will be open to the public.
Richards has a long history with Sarasota County Schools serving as lead designer and consultant on notable projects such as Riverview High School’s (Sarasota, FL) kitchen and cafeteria, a design so successful the School Board replicated it in two other Sarasota County high schools. Richards has also designed technical school kitchens for Manatee County and Collier County, Florida.
