Staples Says “Thanks a Million” in Celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week

To celebrate teachers and all they do, Staples, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLS) is giving customers the opportunity to thank a teacher that has made a difference in their lives by providing one million free thank you cards in Staples’ stores across the country or Staples.com/giftcards during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2-6.

“Staples is making it easy for customers to send personal thank you cards to teachers who have made a difference in their lives,” said Alison Corcoran, senior vice president of North American stores and online marketing, Staples. “In today’s busy world, sometimes we forget to slow down and say ‘thank you’ to current or past teachers who have made an impact in our lives. We invite all of our customers to share their gratitude and help us say ‘thanks a million.’”

Free Thank You Cards to Send Teachers
Available now through May 7, customers can visit their local Staples store or Staples.com/giftcards for their free thank you card designed by Staples Print and Marketing Services. Every teacher who is thanked virtually on social media using the hashtag, #thanksamillion, will also have a chance to win one of 75 Erin Condren teacher planners.

Staples Makes More than $425,000 3D Printer Donation
As part of Teacher’s Appreciation Week, Staples Business Advantage, the business-to-business division of Staples, will celebrate innovation in classrooms and donate more than $425,000 worth of MakerBot 3D printers and accessories to select schools and universities across the United States. The donations will include Replicator and Replicator Mini 3D printers, 3D digital scanners, and 3D filaments in various colors. Staples Business Advantage will work closely with the schools to integrate these printers into the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) curriculum to provide students access to 3D printing technologies.

“These printers offer students and teachers an opportunity to turn their creative ideas into a reality by applying thought design and engineering skills to a hands-on learning experience,” said Marty Robertson, vice president, technology solutions, Staples Business Advantage. “This donation seeks to foster knowledge of 3D printing, which is a rapidly developing segment of design and manufacturing.”

In addition, as part of the Staples 3D printer donation, MakerBot will provide a range of resources to help educators integrate 3D printing in the classroom including the MakerBot in the Classroom handbook with ideas and activities to get started with 3D printing.

A few of the schools and universities receiving the printers include: Alliance College-Ready Public Schools in Los Angeles, California, Wayne County Schools in Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Dallas Independent School District in Dallas, Texas.
