Werner Enterprises Brings BBQ to Louisiana Drivers amid Flooding

Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ:WERN), a premier transportation and logistics provider, will provide free Porky Butts BBQ to professional drivers and first responders in the Port Allen, Louisiana, community during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. While Werner will host driver appreciation events at its terminals and dedicated sites nationwide, the Louisiana location was specifically chosen to aid professional drivers who have been displaced by recent flooding.

“This is an opportunity to show our appreciation not just to our drivers, but to all drivers and aid this community as they face the challenges that accompany the flooding in the area,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Derek Leathers.

On Monday, Sept. 12, award winning Porky Butts BBQ will cater free lunch for professional drivers at Werner’s Port Allen location from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Tuesday, Sept. 13, Porky Butts BBQ will cater free lunch, courtesy of Werner, for the community’s first responders at Livingston Parish beginning at 5 p.m. Porky Butts BBQ, a competitive team based out of Omaha, Nebraska, is currently ranked first among more than 5,000 teams in the Kansas City Barbeque Society’s team standings.

Werner also will assist the Midwest Food Bank by hauling a shipment of food, water and personal care items to Louisiana to aid flood relief efforts. The Midwest Food Bank gathers and distributes food donations to nonprofits and disaster sites without cost to the recipients.
