Concerns about an interest rate increase in December weighed the markets down to a lower close with the Dow falling 42 points to 17,888. Nasdaq lost 12 points to 5,046.


On the upside


ConforMIS (Nasdaq: CFMS) narrowed third quarter losses more than expected as revenue climbed.


Third quarter revenue for Hortonworks (Nasdaq: HDP) surged to top expectations and the company forecast current quarter revenue ahead to estimates.


Exelixis (Nasdaq: EXEL) narrowed losses for the third quarter more than expected.


On the downside


Invuity (Nasdaq: IVTY) reported a loss for the third quarter.


Clean Energy Fuels (Nasdaq: CLNE) reported a loss for the third quarter and revenue that missed expectations.


LiLAC (Nasdaq: LILA) disappointed with third quarter results that fell short of estimates.


In the broad market, advancing issues barely edged out decliners by a slim margin on both the NYSE and on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 slipped 3 points to 2,085. Bitcoin edged up to $692.
