Travelers Institute Hosts Cybersecurity Symposium in Hartford, Conn.

The Travelers Institute, the public policy division of The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV), today will bring its national Cyber: Prepare, Prevent, Mitigate, Restore educational series to Hartford, Connecticut, to help small and midsize business leaders learn how to prepare for and respond to cyber threats. The Connecticut Business & Industry Association, reSET and the Janet & Mark L. Goldenson Center for Actuarial Research at the University of Connecticut will join the Travelers Institute in hosting the event at the UConn Graduate Business Learning Center.

Arthur House, Chief Cybersecurity Risk Officer for the State of Connecticut, will give the keynote address, “A Cybersecurity Strategy for Connecticut: Prevention and Recovery.”

“The more sophisticated a state’s economy, the greater the need for effective cybersecurity at the state, regional and national levels,” said House. “We are receiving excellent cooperation throughout the state as we craft Connecticut’s cybersecurity strategy.”

The Cyber: Prepare, Prevent, Mitigate, Restore series convenes public- and private-sector industry leaders around the country to discuss current cyber risks and solutions to protect businesses.

“Many smaller companies and organizations may not have the resources to invest in a strong cybersecurity protocol, placing them at greater risk for an incident,” said Joan Woodward, President of the Travelers Institute and Executive Vice President of Public Policy at Travelers. “This educational series provides valuable insights and solutions businesses can use to help protect sensitive information.”

Woodward will moderate a discussion, joined by the following panelists:

  • Linda Betz, Chief Information Security Officer, Travelers
  • Jennifer Coughlin, Founding Partner, Mullen Coughlin LLC
  • Thomas S. Lawler, Supervisory Special Agent, Cyber Crime Squad,
    Federal Bureau of Investigation
  • Jay Vadiveloo, Professor and Director, the Janet & Mark L. Goldenson Center for
