BNY Mellon Wealth Management Hires Carolina Montiel as Managing Director in the Family Wealth Investment Advisor Group

BNY Mellon Wealth Management has hired Carolina Montiel as a managing director in the Family Wealth Investment Advisor group. Based in Miami, Montiel will report to Ridge Powell, managing director and team leader of the advisory group, and will support the Florida region alongside Managing Director Ray Sidwell and the international team. Montiel will provide investment advice to the office’s ultra-high net worth family clientele.

Montiel brings 25 years of investment experience to her new role. She will be instrumental in helping U.S. clients with complex investment needs, as well as clients living in international jurisdictions in the ultra-high net worth segment. Montiel was previously a senior vice president and head of Investment Strategies Group Americas at EFG Capital International Corp. in Miami. In that role, she developed strategies for Latin American clients, was a member of the Global Asset Allocation committee and chaired the local Investment Strategy Committee.

"Carolina brings her investment and client expertise to our expanding Miami-based team. Her international experience and prior investment committee work will be a benefit to the region, plus her participation at conferences and forums where she is recognized as a thought leader will be beneficial to the organization as well," said Powell.

Prior to EFG Capital, Montiel worked at HSBC Private Bank International in Miami as a senior vice president and head of Investment Strategies, managing a group of investment counselors responsible for private wealth clients. Montiel earned her Bachelor of Science in urban planning from Simón Bolívar University, as well as a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración in Venezuela.
