Infor today announced that Charente Group, parent company of several major marine service and supply companies, has gone live with Infor ERP SL (formerly SyteLine). Charente will use Infor ERP SL, a comprehensive ERP solution for businesses in discrete manufacturing, to streamline production and distribution across a wide range of products to improve customer service, increase manufacturing efficiency and drive business growth.
Charente Group includes DPM (UK) Ltd, one of the world's leading suppliers of charts and nautical publications, and John Lilley & Gillie Ltd, a long-established nautical chart supplier and navigational equipment manufacturer. Products include chart folios and electronic navigational devices for wind, compass and speed measurement equipment.
Following a short, 10-month implementation, Charente has successfully deployed Infor ERP SL across two sites. The software will deliver improved management information on the manufacturing operations such as efficiency levels, purchase price variances and staff / materials utilisation in the production environment and factory planning and loading. In addition Infor ERP SL will enable Charente to reduce inventory levels. Charente will also benefit from production schedules which are tailored more specifically to customer demand.
“Infor ERP SL was chosen because of the software's close fit with our requirements and the fact that the team at Infor had clearly taken a great deal of time to research and understand the idiosyncrasies and complexities of our business,” explained Charente's Chief Operating Officer Chris Taylor. “For example, a typical order will have over 4,000 line items. Different components of these orders are often delivered at different dates mixed in with different orders. Only Infor ERP SL offered the functionality to handle this as we wanted. Specifically, Infor ERP SL enables us to accept entire orders then retrospectively change the details that need alteration instead of having to reject entire orders and re-enter individual line items. Other systems force you to reject the entire order and this would add days, if not weeks onto our processing.
“Infor ERP SL will enable us to achieve far more accuracy across our inventory and supply chain and put a far more comprehensive factory planning system in place. These changes will improve customer service and ensure our growth remains controlled. Infor ERP SL will also integrate the administration behind purchasing, sales, production and invoicing, creating an automated workflow that will save time and money to help fund this growth.
