Bazaarvoice Names Andy Maag Vice President of Engineering

Bazaarvoice, the market and technology leader in hosted social commerce applications that drive sales, today announced that Andy Maag has been appointed vice president of engineering at Bazaarvoice. Maag, a veteran of Apple, eBay, Hewlett-Packard and Trilogy Software, was promoted to the executive role based on his highly successful leadership of Bazaarvoices product research and development initiatives as chief architect and director of development over the past two years. As vice president, he will continue to guide Bazaarvoices world-class technology team in the innovation and delivery of social commerce applications that lead the industry in availability, reliability and performance.

Andy has overseen the development and launch of groundbreaking social commerce products, including the award-winning Ratings & Reviews and Ask & Answer, that consistently drive sales for the largest brands in the world, said Brett Hurt, founder and CEO of Bazaarvoice. The Bazaarvoice infrastructure now delivers well over one billion impressions of user-generated content a month and served 71 million reviews on CyberMonday 2007 with no downtime or delays. I am thrilled to work alongside Andy as we continue to aggressively build toward the day when social commerce content and capabilities are driving unprecedented results globally as part of every marketing message and every multichannel shopping experience.

Maag brings more than 10 years of expertise in software research and development to the Bazaarvoice management team. Prior to joining Bazaarvoice, Maag spent six years at Trilogy Software where he held multiple research, development, and technical management roles. Most recently, he was a senior research scientist where he developed data-mining algorithms for applications in the eCommerce space. Prior to Trilogy, Andy worked for Hewlett-Packard as a software developer on the HP-UX Operating System, and he also held roles at Apple and eBay. He holds masters and bachelors degrees in computer science from Stanford University.

Bazaarvoice combines industry-leading social commerce technology with a first-class services team to deliver high impact business results for the largest companies in the world, said Andy Maag, vice president of engineering at Bazaarvoice. I look forward to working with our stellar engineering team to maintain a laser focus on core development and infrastructure support as Bazaarvoice continues its path of extremely rapid growth."
