B. Riley & Co. has announced that veteran investment banker Timothy C. McQuay has joined as Managing Director and analyst Daniel Whang has joined as Senior Analyst, according to Tom Kelleher, Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. McQuay brings to B. Riley more than 25 years of experience in a broad range of investment banking transactions on behalf of public and private companies and complements the firm’s growing Healthcare banking practice. Mr. Kelleher also noted that, “with the addition of Mr. Whang we are launching coverage of the Industrials sector and therefore expanding our research universe.”
Before joining B. Riley, Mr. McQuay was Managing Director with A.G. Edwards & Sons for 10 years, covering Healthcare, Consumer Products and middle market Industrial companies primarily in the western United States. Prior to that, he was a Partner and Managing Director with Crowell, Weedon & Company. He began his investment banking career with Wedbush Morgan Securities.
He serves on the Board of Directors of BSD Medical Corporation (NASDAQ: BSDM) and Meade Instruments Corp., (NASDAQ: MEAD).
Mr. McQuay received an AB degree in economics from Princeton University and an MBA degree in finance from the University of California at Los Angeles.
As Senior Analyst, Mr. Whang will cover the Industrials sector from B. Riley’s New York office. Prior to B. Riley, Mr. Whang worked at Lehman Brothers for eight years, most recently serving as Vice President, Senior Analyst covering Industrials. While at Lehman, he covered, among others: Fastenal Co. (NasdaqGS: FAST), Pentair, Inc. (NYSE: PNR), W.W. Grainger, Inc. (NYSE: GWW); EnerSys, Inc. (NYSE: ENS) and WESCO International Inc. (NYSE: WCC).
Prior to Lehman, Mr. Whang was a Management Consultant in Ernst & Young’s Consulting Practice, both in Baltimore and Chicago, where he advised Fortune 500 companies.
Mr. Whang earned a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
