Catbird CTO to Address Virtualization Security at Interop

Catbird, the pioneering leader in cutting-edge security and compliance solutions for virtual and physical networks, announced today that chief technology officer Michael Berman, CISSP, will serve as a panelist for a discussion examining the challenges of securing a virtual environment at 2 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, May 20 at the 2009 Interop Conference at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.

During the session “Are Virtual Infrastructures Secure? More or Less????” panelists will examine the security implications in transitioning from physical to virtual data centers, review industry best practices for securing virtual environments and discuss available tools to aid in locking down virtual infrastructure. Berman will address comprehensive security and compliance for virtualization deployments and how to incorporate security planning from inception.

“Virtualized environments have the potential to be more secure than their physical counterparts,” Berman noted. “Getting ahead of the issue via early analysis and design is the best way to realize the cost-savings and consolidation benefits promised by virtual data centers. In this panel, we will address how to integrate security as part of the planning and deployment process to prevent problems down the road.”

Other panelist include Charu Chaubal, senior architect, technical marketing, VMWare; Chris Orr, senior systems engineer/business development, Tripwire; and Hezi Moore, CTO, Reflex Systems. The moderator will be Anne Skamarock, research Director, FOCUS.
