Nova Datacom and Operation First Response Offer Support to Nation’s Wounded Soldiers

Nova Datacom, a leading provider of integrated Mission Assurance solutions to public and private sector organizations, has partnered with Operation First Response to offer technology access to wounded soldiers returning to the United States. Many of these soldiers would be unable to afford such technology without the assistance of organizations such as OFR.

Nova Datacom donated nearly 50 re-engineered laptop computers and two high-performance Juniper Networks SSG firewalls. The laptops were recycled as part of Nova Datacom’s green IT initiative, which includes data wiping, hard drive reformatting, and re-imaging. The new image was built using Acronis data migration software; Acronis is a partner in Nova Datacom’s disaster recovery practice. The company is also building a file server for OFR so that the staff of the growing organization can share documents.

“We are 100% committed to helping Operation First Response expand their operations nationwide,” says Min Cho, President & CEO of Nova Datacom. “OFR has helped nearly 5,000 wounded soldiers and their families with things many of us take for granted – things like mortgage and rent, utilities, car payments, even groceries. We’re just happy to play a part. It’s our way of saying, ‘thank you’ to the men and women of the Armed Forces who protect us.”

“OFR is very grateful to Nova Datacom for their donation,” says Peggy Baker, President of Operation First Response. “Many of our wounded experience severe financial difficulties during their recovery period, and it would be impossible for them to afford the equipment necessary to access technology via the Internet. Because of the severity of the injuries they sustained, this generous donation will enable many homebound veterans access to important information and employment opportunities.”

About Operation First Response

Operation First Response supports our nation's wounded heroes and their families with their personal and financial needs. For many families, the financial hardship begins quickly after the soldier is injured; for others, it is after the domino effect of extra costs and lost wages. OFR provides outreach services to these families to determine the extent of the financial need, and assistance is provided based on specific family requirements. OFR is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization formed in the State of Virginia. Donations to OFR are tax deductible. For more information – or to provide a donation of clothing, toiletries, food, technology, or money, in any amount – please visit http://www.operationfirstresponse.org.
