The City of Carlsbad invites residents and friends to take part in a long-running Carlsbad tradition, the Carlsbad Triathlon, by serving as a volunteer for the race or corresponding Wellness Expo.
Volunteer opportunities for the Wellness Expo, taking place Saturday, July 7, include checking in athletes and handing out goodie bags. Body marking, cheering athletes on at the finish line and assisting at the hospitality booth are among race day volunteer opportunities on Sunday, July 8.
“Individuals who may not want to swim, bike or run in the event can still be active participants in the Carlsbad Triathlon,” said Sue Irey, community volunteer coordinator for the City of Carlsbad. “Volunteering is a great way to be a part of the exciting race weekend action.”
The Carlsbad Triathlon is in the world’s top five longest running triathlons and attracts first time to elite competitors. More than 2,000 spectators and 1,000 participants are expected, which helps to support the local economy and raise the city’s profile as a great place to enjoy a healthy, outdoor lifestyle.
