Basking Ridge, New Jersey-based Avaya, Inc., (AV), is a leading provider of communications systems and software for enterprise customers, including businesses, government agencies, and other organizations. Avaya, Inc., was spun off from Lucent Technologies (LU) on September 30, 2000. It was formerly known as the Enterprise Networks Group of Lucent Technologies and was built, in part, through the acquisitions of Octel, SDX, Prominet, and Lannet, Ltd. Avaya is a global leader in traditional PBX and IP telephony-based systems, call center applications, communications consulting, and systems integration services. The company has over one million customers, including over 90% of the Fortune 500 companies.
Avaya operates through two main business segments: Global Communications Solutions (54.4% of fiscal 2007 revenue) and Avaya Global Services (45.6%). Geographically, break-down of revenue for fiscal 2007 was as follows: U.S. (55.8%) Europe, the Middle East and Africa (29.9%) Asia-Pacific (8.4%) and Americas non-U.S. (5.9%).
