PR Log - Sep 14, 2011 - After years in development, design and testing, Sparky Firepants has released their Pants! card game to the world in a novel way. Using the indie funding site Kickstarter.com as a platform, Sparky Firepants is looking to enter the family game market.
Seeking just enough capital to fund the manufacture of 2,500 copies of the family card game Pants!, the company joins the ranks of other creatives who have found success through the site.
On Kickstarter, creatives who seek funding set a financial goal and a deadline to fulfill it. Backers can pledge any amount they wish and only pay if the project is fully funded by the deadline. As incentives for the Pants! project, Sparky Firepants has offered rewards at specific pledge levels, such as signed copies of the game and original, signed art prints.
“Kickstarter is giving us the platform to host our project and a built-in audience of Backers who have funded similar projects in the past,” says David Billings, Sparky Firepants' Chief Pants. “For small businesses like ours, Kickstarter is an amazing way to get funding in a transparent way that also benefits our Backers.”
Billings also created a short and funny video to entice viewers to pledge. “The Kickstarter people recommended that we post it. Apparently, most successfully funded projects have some kind of fun and informative video. Plus, we had a blast doing it.”
