Selma Caris and Jeffrey C. Bauer, PhD Join See The Change USA’s National Board of Directors. See The Change USA, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization committed to student advancement in Science & Engineering by bringing age appropriate physics to middle schools of America, recently elected two new members to serve on the organization’s national board.
PRLog - Feb. 24, 2015 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- At a January See The Change USA special meeting, the board voted unanimously to welcome Selma Caris and Jeffrey C. Bauer, PhD.  Chairman Jim Johnson welcomed the newest board members.

Jim Johnson, Chairman and President & CEO of GE Johnson Construction Company said, “On behalf of the Board of Directors of See The Change USA, we are honored to have Selma and Jeff lend their expertise and talent to our organization, as our mission continues to grow and the positive results from our program present new opportunities for the board to help guide.”

A native of the Netherlands, Selma Caris has lived in the United States for over 18 years – having lived in California, Massachusetts, and now, for the second time, Colorado.  She holds a degree in child psychology from the University of Leiden, where she continued her study with a master’s degree in educational management.  Upon moving to the United States, she continued her education by earning an MBA from UCCS.  Her work experience encompasses policy making on federal, state and local levels, in both elementary and secondary education, focusing primarily on curriculum development and implementation.  Selma commented on her appointment to the board “I believe in the power of education as an engine for change.  See The Change USA provides with its Physics curriculum a critical and necessary component for our future workforce.”

Dr. Bauer is an internationally recognized health futurist and medical economist.  He speaks frequently to national and international audiences about key trends in health care, medical science, technology, reimbursement, public policy, health reform, and creative problem-solving.  As a consultant, he has assisted hundreds of organizations with strategic planning and performance improvement initiatives.  He served as Vice President for Health Care Forecasting and Strategy for ACS, a Xerox Company for eleven years and at his own consulting firm, The Bauer Group, specialized in consumer-focused strategic planning and clinical affiliation agreements for multi-hospital networks.  In addition, Dr. Bauer was a full-time teacher and administrator at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, where he held appointments as associate professor and Assistant Chancellor for Planning and Program Development.  He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Colorado-Boulder.  He graduated from Colorado College in Colorado Springs with a B.A. in economics and completed a certificate in political studies at the University of Paris (France).

Dr. Bauer now lives in Chicago and added, “I have benefited throughout life, professionally and personally, from excellent physics courses that I had in junior high when the US was starting to develop rockets, satellites, and computers over 50 years ago.  Now, it’s exciting to have the opportunity to work with See The Change USA to make the same opportunities available to today’s students, who need fundamental scientific and technical knowledge to face today’s equivalents of the space race.”

Dave Csintyan, CEO of See The Change USA said, “It is a personal pleasure to welcome two outstanding individuals to our Board of Directors. Selma Caris and Dr. Jeff Bauer bring extensive expertise to the board steeped in a profound respect for what is possible in our educational system. We look forward to their wisdom and professional expertise as we continue our quest to afford today's youth the opportunity to learn both the beauty and fundamentals found in the world of physics.

See The Change USA was founded in August 2012 and is a national 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization committed to student advancement in Science and Engineering.  This is accomplished through introducing age appropriate physics in all middle schools of the United States.
