PRLog - April 14, 2015 - SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. -- With the 2015 prom season quickly approaching, high school juniors and seniors are starting to think about what they will wear to prom and for some, the biggest concern may be the cost associated with the big day. The Trendsetters, a community teen group based at The Tabernacle Church, is set to host their first prom dress giveaway on Saturday, May 2nd from 10AM – 2PM at The Tabernacle Church (located at 1253 New Market Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080). This special event is set to be a prom dress experience that’s free of charge, giving local high school girls a chance to pick out a dress and get chances to win prizes that amount to over $1,000.

Melissa Frazier, co-leader of the Trendsetters says, “We want teens to walk away knowing that the Trendsetters teen group is a safe place where they can get positive influences and the resources they need to live their best lives now.”

The “Pretty For Prom” event is free and open to the public, although pre-registration is required. Various individuals and businesses have donated all of the dresses featured at the event throughout the year. High school students must present their student ID or proof of high school registration to enter the event and receive their free dress. Attendees will also have the chance to win prizes such as a free limo ride to prom donated by the Senior Pastor, Macy’s gift certificates, professional makeup consultations, hair stylist services and so much more!

“With the economic climate still being challenging for many, we want to ensure that the cost of a dress is not a concern for local high school students,” said De’Andre Salter, Senior Pastor at The Tabernacle Church.

It’s not too late for the whole community to get involved! The Tabernacle Church is currently accepting new and gently used formal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, wraps, purses and accessories. Donations can be dropped off at 1253 New Market Avenue, Monday -Thursday between the hours of 10:30AM-4:30PM.

Teens interested in attending the Pretty for Prom dress giveaway event are encouraged to pre-register as soon as possible as registration is limited. To do so, visit www.TheTabernacle.com or contact event organizer, Melissa Frazier, with any questions at m.frazier@thetabernacle.com or (908) 222-9990 ext.17.
