LOS ANGELES - April 11, 2016 - PRLog -- Since its inception in 2003, The EmpowHer Institute has given over 3500 teen girls from low income communities the tools to succeed through practical life skills, leadership and financial mentoring programs allowing teen girls the opportunity to design a future that prepares them for tomorrow's careers.

The EmpowHer Institute will hold an invite-only fundraiser on Thursday, April 28, 2016, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mount Saint Mary's University - Doheny Mansion, 10 Chester Place, Los Angeles, CA 90007, celebrating exemplary men and women in the community who have supported their programs and unwavering efforts for at-risk Los Angeles middle and high school girls.

Hosted by Actress Wendy Raquel Robinson and Hip-Hop icon Yolanda "Yo-Yo" Whitaker, these talented women are a perfect fit to co-emcee since they are both products of the very same communities and embody the event's theme "Ignite the Power Within" as they have always been committed to mentoring and encouraging young girls to continue to strive to be the change in their communities.

"When we look back over the years, we are thrilled to have such stalwart support to inspire our girls to greatness," said Betty LaMarr, CEO of EmpowHer Institute.

This year's honorees include Darrell Brown, SVP Consumer Banking U.S. Bank, Denise Clements, CEO Community Recruiting, and Martha Daniel, CEO Information Management Resources, Inc. with empowerment and inspirational speakers Surina Khan from Women's Foundation of California along with Scholar, Humanitarian, and Author Dr. Tererai Trent; with entertainment provided by Flutist Dawn Norfleet.
