Dermatology Specialists of Florida was recognized by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) with a value-based modifier (VBM) award. The VBM award is a higher payment for services to medical group practices that provide high quality care to Medicare patients at low to average cost to the Medicare program. The award is determined by CMS and verified through the electronic reporting of health care information and claims data from the medical group practices.
Of the 13,813 groups eligible for a VBM award, only 128 were selected. This places Dermatology Specialists of Florida in the top 1% of group medical practices in the nation for providing quality health care services. The VBM award program is budget neutral. The higher payments for the practices receiving the award are from lower payments to practices that were penalized for not meeting quality standards.
