Electronic Recyclers International Congratulates Staples for E-Waste Recycling Efforts and EPA Award

Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the nation’s leading recycler of electronics and e-waste, has issued a statement congratulating Staples for its proactive e-waste recycling efforts and its 2014 SMM Electronics Challenge Gold Participant Award presented by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). ERI works with Staples on its recycling program by providing certified and environmentally safe and responsible recycling of used and unwanted electronics.

Staples is one of a select few organizations to be recognized by the EPA last week for its outstanding achievements in used electronics stewardship under the Sustainable Materials Management (SMM) Electronics Challenge.

The SMM Electronics Challenge supports efforts to increase safe and effective handling of used electronics through third-party certified recyclers in the U.S. The Staples program has been recognized as an embodiment of the EPA’s Gold standard for an “exemplary, well-developed collection program” that is publicly recognized and provides convenient and effective services to residents throughout the U.S.

“We congratulate Staples on this truly landmark honor,” said ERI Chairman and CEO John Shegerian. “It is a great privilege to work with such a forward thinking and dedicated organization – we are proud and humbled to be able to play a role in helping them achieve these remarkable goals.”
