Safeway Beats Expectations

Safeway Inc. (NYSE: SWY) reported higher fourth quarter earnings of $1.02 per share compared with 67 cents per share in the year ago period that beat expectations by a wide margin as revenue rose. The stock price soared $2.53 to $22.66.
