Collaboration continues to break new ground in cross-discipline art
PRLog - Mar. 24, 2014 - BOSTON -- BRUSH|REED has been invited by the Hong Kong Wind Ensemble to perform in Hong Kong on June 1, 2014. The performance will be held at the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre.

In addition to the BRUSH|REED performance, Dr. Bill will be teaching a masters class, guest conducting, and performing a concerto with the Hong Kong Wind Ensemble on May 25, 2014 at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall.

Since inception, BRUSH|REED has been a labor of love and entirely self-funded. To help finance this performance abroad, BRUSH|REED has launched an IndieGoGo campaign, which will support the duo's upcoming two-week journey to Hong Kong, which begins on May 19th, 2014. The tax-deductible donations will fund international travel expenses including airline tickets, baggage fees for instruments and equipment, paint and canvas, saxophone equipment, international work visas, transportation, lodging, and food.

About BRUSH|REED:

BRUSH|REED is a collaboration between painter Linnea Doyle (Los Angeles) and saxophonist Dr. Jennifer Bill (Boston). The artists join together to explore the parallels between painting and music via live stage performances. Jennifer transforms the printed notes of her musical score into lush soundscapes, Linnea further interprets the music into visual color and form on her fresh canvas.

The live art that blooms at every BRUSH|REED performance captivates and moves audiences. The paintings that emerge establish a visual memory of the sights, sounds, and emotions of each intimate affair, impressing upon each audience member a feeling of symbiosis between the two disciplines presented to them.

BRUSH|REED engages an audience through color, pitch, representational lines, rhythm, intensity, and expression... A true aural-visual experience.

“This is the unique kind of performance that highlights how the performing and visual arts are inextricably connected and shines a light on how the collaborative process of the creation of art, whether sonic or visual, is what connects us all as humans.” Brad Fuster chair Buffalo State Music Department
