Watford, United Kingdom - September 29, 2016 /PressCable/

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopment disorder characterized by deficits in social interactions and social communication and by restricted, repetitive patterns of behaviour. The most recent studies (CDC, 2014) report that ASD occurs in approximately one in every 68 births. ASD is one of the most common and serious developmental disabilities. It is almost five times more likely to occur in boys than in girls.

The Autism Awareness Web website is the brainchild Kenda Larson, a primary school teacher from Ayrshire in Scotland. She was touched by ASD when her 2 year old Nephew, Rory, was diagnosed with Autism in 2014. The site is designed by Lana Montgomery, an IT professional who resides in Straiton, a small village about 15 miles southeast of Ayr. Montgomery is also the website’s editor and fist contact for people who wish to submit content or Guest Post on the blog.

Kenda Larson, Founder of Autism Awareness Web said “ It is our goal through the website to promote the value, acceptance and inclusion of people presenting with ASD and help people on the autism spectrum fulfill their potential to lead positive, productive and rewarding lives.”

AAW’s goal in developing the new site is to host compelling information to increase awareness understanding and about the nature of Autism Spectrum Disorder and among the general population. The design provides easy-to-access information, resources and guidance for families affected by autism. The primary focus is to connect the international autism community with best practices and the very latest information and research so that parents and carers can make informed decisions.

The site is built using ‘responsive’ techniques which means it is easily available on any device; it is as easy to use on a smartphone as it is on a desktop computer. This ensures that it is fully accessible to all people, all of the time, whether they were at home, work or on the move.
