Blessing Health System Uses Wandering WiFi to Provide Free and Secure Wi-Fi for Patients, Visitors and Physicians

Wandering WiFi, a leader in providing secure public and private wireless technology solutions, announced today that Blessing Health System is offering Wandering WiFi’s wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) service free to all visitors, patients and physicians in its Quincy, Ill. locations. Two hospitals, a physician group, a four-year nursing education program, a foundation and a group of medical specialty businesses come together to form the Blessing Health System in Quincy.

The service is provided via a wireless in-house network, available throughout most areas within Blessing Health System. The HotSpot solutions offer Blessing and other businesses the opportunity for customized branding, usage controls, bandwidth management content filtering and reduced legal liability by forcing acceptance of terms and conditions. Wandering WiFi also offers superior security and technical support with instant VPN access and 24/7/365 system monitoring.

“When patients and visiting physicians began asking about wireless accessibility, we started the evaluation process, looking at security considerations and the financial investment,” said Lea Ann Eickelschulte, director of information systems, Blessing Health System. “Wandering WiFi had a good deal of industry experience and was very sensitive to the specific issues within healthcare. The company has been a good partner, working with our security and compliance department to troubleshoot and address potential issues from the beginning.”

Wandering WiFi's product portfolio includes HotSpot solutions and AirWatch, a wireless network and mobile device management software platform designed to manage wireless infrastructure and mobile devices, monitor configurations and users, and consistently audit wireless security across an enterprise.

“As many healthcare providers move to internal wireless networks to offer point-of-care bedside service and documentation, the opportunity to quickly, easily and inexpensively add on to a hospital’s existing infrastructure is enormous,” said John Marshall, CEO of Wandering WiFi. “At Blessing, we were able to add a minimal amount of hardware, with little capital outlay, and get them up and running within weeks. It has been a great partnership and we have seen the number of users on their system grow rapidly from month to month.”
