Higher Close As Europe Demands Stricter Austerity Measures

The European Union will provide Greece with an additional loan of 12 billion euros if the country approves stricter austerity measures. The markets closed higher with the Dow climbing 76 points to 12,080 while Nasdaq gained 13 points to 2629.

On the downside

Evercore Partners initiated coverage of Dice Holdings (NYSE: DHX) with an Overweight rating but the stock price fell.

Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) added 14 more products to its patent infringement lawsuit against Samsung.

In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of nearly 2 to 1 on the NYSE and by more than 9 to 7 on Nasdaq. The Russell 2000 which tracks small cap stocks gained 6 points at 788.
