SapientNitro, part of Sapient (NASDAQ: SAPE), has announced that Jason Chau has joined the company as managing director of SapientNitro in China, effective immediately. Based in Shanghai, Chau will lead SapientNitro’s integrated marketing and technology business across China.
Chau will be responsible for all aspects of the China business – from strategy to client services -- with a focus on SapientNitro’s unique multi-channel marketing and commerce offering for clients. He also will play an active role on key accounts, such as Coca-Cola, Dove Chocolate, Marks & Spencer, and Unilever, in addition to recent business wins.
Chau brings 17 years of marketing and advertising experience in both traditional and digital realms from well-established agencies, as well as a global perspective attained from having worked in Greater China, Singapore, and the United States. His experience spans the areas of brand management, digital communications, and integrated marketing.
“We’re strongly committed to the Asia Pacific region, and are pleased to have found a talented and globally experienced leader like Jason to continue to grow our China business and bring innovative thinking to this dynamic market,” said Joe Tibbetts, managing director of the Asia Pacific region for SapientNitro. “Jason excels at creating and delivering value for clients and has demonstrated remarkable success in building businesses. His strong belief in the power of merging creativity and technology makes him a great fit for SapientNitro.”
Chau joins SapientNitro from MRM Worldwide where he served 11 years in a variety of management roles across Asia. Most recently, he served as managing director of the Greater China region. Prior to that, he served as managing director for MRM in Singapore and China, building both operations from the ground up.
Prior to MRM, Chau built a solid track record at FCB Direct in Hong Kong, and at various New York City agencies, including Wunderman, JWT, and Young & Rubicam. He received his business degree from Stern School of Business at New York University.
“SapientNitro is uniquely positioned to succeed in the modern marketplace by having a strong technology DNA combined with top-notch creativity,” said Chau. “This allows our teams to be truly innovative and, at the same time, possess the analytical tools to demonstrate business results. I’m excited to bring this compelling proposition to our clients and to the market in China.”
Chau moves into the newly created managing director role, joining Shannon Dix and Jennifer Tan as part of SapientNitro’s leadership team in China. Dix retains focus on managing global accounts while Tan continues to lead the creative discipline across China.
