Kells Academy Students Place First

By: PRLog
PRLog - Oct. 15, 2013 - MONTREAL, Canada -- Yasmeen Dajani and Clarisa Rengel, Grade 11 students of Kells Academy, took first place at the Aristotle Cup, hosted by the Marianopolis College Debating Society. A total of 28 teams from across Quebec competed in this first senior tournament of the year. Kells Academy was represented by two Grade 11 teams:  Ms. Dajani and Ms. Rengel, as well as Ms. Christina Papagiannis and Mr. Huy Hoang.

The final round was a flashback to the April 2013 Dawson Tournament where the students, in their first Finals round, faced off against LCC to earn a second place standing. "At Kells we have an outstanding debate team and are not surprised that the girls debated their way to a win against LCC," said school Director Irene Woods. Both students also won individual placements in the Speaker categories with Ms. Dajani taking first and Ms. Rengel taking second place. In addition to the debate competitions for the 2013-2014 academic year, Ms. Dajani and Ms. Rengel also will be attending the Durham Schools Debating Competition at Durham University, England in March 2014. Coaches Chung and Campbell are extremely proud of all debaters who took part and look forward to a great year of debating at Kells.

A private English school serving Kindergarten to Grade 11, Kells Academy does not require a Certificate of Eligibility.  Small class sizes, advanced and individually tailored teaching methods, and a warm, multicultural environment, combine to ensure that each student enjoys the richest, most rewarding learning experience possible.  While most of our students are Canadian, welcoming students from around the world is part of our mission.
