Transgender Man of Faith Shares His Journey from Female to Male in an Unforgiving World

By: PRLog
Read the stunning journey of Rizi Xavier Timane’s self discovery and transition in this riveting biography titled “An UnSpoken Compromise”.
PRLog - Apr. 11, 2014 - Nigerian-born transgender male minister Rizi Xavier Timane grew up in an extremely religious Christian home as a girl.  He was subjected to multiple exorcisms and other reparative attempts by his family and church to change him as they tried to "pray away the gay".

An UnSpoken Compromise takes you through his journey of spiritual exploration and self-discovery including:

Coming out as a trans boy at eight years old

Identifying as a lesbian in homophobic Africa

Transitioning from female to male while facing societal and family rejection.

The religious persecution and bullying he has suffered all along

Rizi’s message to the LGBT community and the world is twofold.  First, be your authentic self – it’s the only way to inner peace and happiness.  Second, if you are in search of a relationship with God, a spiritual path to unconditional love and acceptance does exist for you free from condemnation and negative judgment.

What others are saying about An UnSpoken Compromise

"A searing memoir"

"Dr. Timane brings up thought -provoking points and consistently finds ways to raise the self-esteem and value of anyone reading...something that usually takes us at least two dirty martinis."

"Members of the LGBT community will find areas to identify with in this telling of the discrimination and rejection Rizi experienced both as a lesbian and now as a transgendered male.  It also provides insight into this world experience for those who would like a better understanding and through this understanding have more compassion for those who struggle with gender dysphoria."

About the Author

Dr. Rizi Xavier Timane is a female to male transgender minister who founded Rizi Timane Ministries in 2007. His ministry serves as a healing space for LGBT people who have been subjected to what he terms as "involuntary religious based abuse." As a survivor of such abuse himself (his parents had him exorcised several times starting at age 12), Rizi found a new spiritual path for himself and other “religious outcasts” called the “Jesusian way” in which a person simply lives by the major teachings of Jesus. His greatest accomplishment has been the establishment of an annual transgender surgery scholarship to assist other trans people to get gender reassignment surgery and so far two people have completed surgeries through the scholarship. Rizi is also an author and a recording artist who writes LGBT-specific songs of encouragement. His most recent album, “Love is Stronger” features a song and music video written in protest of the Nigerian anti-gay law called “The way God made me.”  Rizi holds a master’s in social work from the University of Southern California (USC), a graduate certificate in Religion, Activism and Social Justice from Claremont School of Theology and a PhD in Christian Counseling from Newburgh Seminary.
