Ireland-based Shire To Buy NPS For $5.2 Billon, Or $45 a Share

Dublin-based Shire plc on Sunday said it will acquire NPS Pharmaceuticals in a $5.2 billion deal, uniting two companies that focus on so-called orphan drugs and rare diseases.
