Corporate Review Discuss with Slip-Test to Learn More About Improving Walkway Safety

By: Get News

February 5, 2015 – Boca Raton, Florida — Thousands of injuries are caused each year by slippery walkways, which end up costing businesses billions of dollars. Slip-Test works to minimize the risks to pedestrians by helping businesses test their walkways and potentially prevent these types of accidents. Tune in to watch the Slip-Test Walkway Tribometers segment airing on Bloomberg Television (as pd. prog) on February 7, 2015 at 5:30pm EST. Check your local listings for airtimes.

Slip-Test has a special apparatus known as the Mark IIIB tribometer which helps businesses test their walkways for the lack of traction that is known to increase the risk of accidents. The bottom of the device has a rubber “testfoot” that simulates a person’s footwear. The device loads the testfoot at different angles to see if it slips on the walkway. The angles are then correlated with data from human slip research to help determine the safety of the surface. The company also offers walkway surface lab testing, training, and rentals for organizations.

JL Haber, the Vice President of Programming for Corporate Review, found the technology used by the company to be very valuable. “Improving safety for people traveling on walkways can help reduce the risk of accidents, save organizations money, and improve the workplace environment. When we heard about how this technology can help, we were intrigued by the device and wanted to hear more about it.”

The tribometer is an easily portable device that can be used to determine the traction of a variety of different walkways. The potential for this device to improve safety is tremendous.
