UC Berkeley Extension Announces Berkeley Leadership Accelerator

UC Berkeley Extension’s Berkeley Leadership Accelerator is an innovative online course that provides leadership skills for first-time and aspiring managers. Taught by UC Berkeley Haas School of Business faculty member Frank Schultz, the course combines prerecorded video, live lectures and learning assignments set in the workplace. Berkeley Leadership Accelerator runs July 1–Aug. 13, 2015, with four live-streaming class sessions: July 8, 15, 22 and 29.

Participants can choose to live-stream the class sessions or view recorded versions asynchronously. They may alternate between formats as their schedules permit. In either format, learners participate in online discussion boards and self-assessments and complete homework assignments and a final leadership development action plan. Upon finishing all coursework successfully, participants earn a certificate of completion and continuing education units.

“Leadership is not a one-size-fits-all discipline,” says instructor Schultz. “Through this course, learners can jump-start or reinvigorate their leadership careers by developing competencies that are essential to being an outstanding leader. By interacting with participants online, I fully support these nascent leaders as they build their skills and establish a plan to develop their full potential.”
