Higher open on upbeat jobs report

The markets opened higher with the Dow rising 13 points to 17,918 as the nation's employers added more jobs than expected last month. Nasdaq added 6 points to 5,065.

On the upside

JA Solar Holdings (Nasdaq: JASO) chief executive Baofang Jin offered to take the company private for a premium of $9.69 per American Depositary Share.

Yingli Green Energy (NYSE: YGE) widened losses for the first quarter but revenue rose to top estimates.

InterCloud Systems (Nasdaq: ICLD) received contracts from new clients totaling more than $1.5 million.

On the downside

Zumiez (Nasdaq: ZUMZ) reported higher first quarter earnings and revenue but company forecast second quarter results well below analyst expectations prompting downgrades.

First quarter earnings and revenue rose for Vince Holding (NYSE: VNCE) but the company lowered its full year earnings and revenue outlook.

Investors locked in profits on Lightbridge (Nasdaq: LTBR).

In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of 5 to 3 on the NYSE and by nearly 5 to 4 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 rose 2 points to 2098. Bitcoin added a point to $225.
