PRLog - July 29, 2015 - LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles -- Lessons of love and acceptance are the driving forces behind the children’s books, LITTLE BOY GAN FROM PASSION-FILLED EVERLAND and REIMBURSE THE UNIVERSE (www.lisamcdonaldauthor.com) from new author Lisa McDonald. The books feature compelling illustrations and inspiring story lines that teach children (and the adults in their lives) how to be their best selves and how to treat others with respect and kindness.

McDonald’s first book, LITTLE BOY GAN FROM PASSION-FILLED EVERLAND, tells the story of ten-year-old Gan. Gan is humble and wise with a loving spirit that he shares with the animals he meets in the magical forest where the story takes place. The curious animals watch Gan and observe his kindness and humility. Soon they seek the boy out to learn the secret of his happiness. The old soul gives his new friends advice on humility, passion, compassion, and paying it forward. The impact Gan has on the animals is life changing. The lessons they learn lead to expressions of gratitude for their individual gifts and embolden them to share their passions with the world.

In REIMBURSE THE UNIVERSE, a diverse cast of characters continues the theme of people sharing their best selves with the world. The message of this book focuses on giving back to the universe by honoring and respecting ourselves and others and understanding that all human beings are part of a collective whole. Each page in the book offers examples of how individuals can give back to the collective out of appreciation for the many gifts that the universe has provided all of us.

McDonald’s books end with “The Beginning” and offer readers a spirited statement to help them continue their journey of pursuing their passions and happiness, such as “Reclaim your inner child.” While the books were created for a school-age audience, the themes that McDonald writes about speak to older readers as well. “My books, although by description are children’s books based on the fact that they are illustrated, are resonating with all demographics,” McDonald says. “People who have no children or grandchildren are buying and reading my books simply for the wonderful reminder of what is fundamentally important in this world—the child-like spirit.”

McDonald’s intention in writing her series of children’s books is to emphasize “what is good with our world, what is inherently important about humanity, and the reasons why we should all, no matter our age, cultural background, religious or spiritual beliefs, or affiliations operate from a place of love, growth, kindness, and humility. This message needs to be continually retold, circulated, and shared with everyone.”

In her forthcoming books, McDonald will continue to give readers examples of how love and compassion improve people as individuals and our world as a whole. Her third book, PLANET POME-GRANITE, expected to be released in the Fall of 2015, features the Newfound Heroes, child superheroes on a mission to save the world from fear.

The superheroes force the adults to leave behind their day-to-day responsibilities to rediscover their childhood passions by coming together to build the world’s biggest sandbox. The project gets the adults out of their heads and opens their hearts to the possibility of eradicating fear all over the world. In 2016, McDonald will release KISMET TALES FROM HAPPY TRAILS, which tells the stories of a community of distinctive trees of all ages and varieties. The essence of the book centers on harmony and diversity and the need to celebrate our differences and embrace them.

About the Author

Lisa McDonald is an author and radio host. Her children’s books, LITTLE BOY GAN FROM PASSION-FILLED EVERLAND and REIMBURSE THE UNIVERSE, take readers, young and old, on journeys with diverse characters that teach lessons of acceptance, understanding, and sharing. Lisa’s radio program, Carpe Diem, promotes personal empowerment and showcases world-renowned authors, speakers, and musicians.

Writing has been a long-time passion for Lisa. “I have been writing since the age of five. I always wrote poetry, short stories, anthologies, essays. My maternal grandmother foresaw me being a writer/author from a very young age and encouraged me to pursue it. As a result of reinventing myself due to a change in personal/familial circumstances, it became clear to me that writing was not meant to be a hobby but rather my vocation.”

Lisa’s third and fourth books, PLANET POME-GRANITE and KISMET TALES FROM HAPPY TRAILS, are forthcoming in late 2015 and early 2016.
