National Financial Advisor Week Announces Winner of All-Expenses Paid Four-Year College Education Sweepstakes

Jennifer Rufener, a freshman at Kent State University, was announced as the winner of the Financial Advisor Week (NFAW) college tuition sweepstakes today. As the winner, Ms. Rufener, 18, will receive full tuition, room and board, and books for four years of college education.

Ms. Rufener, a native of Dover, Ohio, is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in architecture and plans to obtain her Masters in order to further specialize in this field. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Dover High School. During high school she served as second chair trumpet player in the school’s symphonic orchestra and traveled to seven different European countries to play. While her parents have been helping to pay for her freshman year and she has saved money from a summer job, Ms. Rufener was cognizant of the fact that she might have to take out student loans to support her long-term academic goals.

Ms. Rufener chose Kent State University because she felt instantly at home on campus, the college has an excellent architecture program and because they offered her the most scholarships. “Tuition played a huge role in my college decision,” said Ms. Rufener. “I wanted to leave college financially stable.”

“My mother read about the NFAW sweepstakes online and while we figured it was a long-shot, we felt you should never count yourself out, even though a lot of people will be trying to win,” Ms. Rufener said. “However, winning feels surreal. It removes so much of the stress I’ve been feeling about having to think about taking on costly loans. I am very grateful and excited about the future.”
