The company announced that its drug Benlysta met the standards of BLISS-76, the second of two key Phase 3 trials in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). It is being reported that the company plans on asking for regulator approval in 2010, and this could be the first treatment approved for patients with SLE in decades. General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), $14.44, +$0.18, 1.26%, is making gains today with over 88 million shares traded. GE, a technology, media and financial services company provides products and services ranging from aircraft engines to medical imaging. The company announced today its technology development arm, GE Global Research, has been awarded a two-year, $1.2 million project to develop a low-cost transducer for portable ultrasound systems without compromising the image quality. eBay Inc. (NASDAQ: EBAY), $22.41, $+0.14, 0.63%, is up $0.14 on no news and with over 19 million shares traded so far. Last month’s report released by the company confirmed its Q3 results with revenue of $2.2 billion, up $120.3 million from the same period of last year. The company contributes its rise in earnings to the continued growth among others to PayPal and Skype. eBay is an online marketplace for the purchase and sale of goods and services.

NovaDel Pharma Inc. (AMEX: NVD), $0.308, +$0.057, 22.47%, has made gains of over 22% today. The company announced last week that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Mist Acquisition, LLC, a privately held company to manufacture and commercialize the NitroMistR lingual spray version of nitroglycerine, a common treatment of angina pectoris. Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: AMLN), $12.08, +$1.04, 9.42%, is making significant gains today after it was announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved an expanded indication for BYETTA (exenatide) injection. BYETTA has now received approval for use as medication that can be used alone along with recommended diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It was previously being used only for patients who were taking additional diabetes medications and had not achieved adequate glycemic control. Amylin is a company focused on using innovative science to offer new treatments for diabetes and obesity.
