Back in January, Google announced that they would be pulling the plug on their photo editing site, Picnik, and sadly for some, that day has arrived. According to Google, Picnik was among a list of products that failed to achieve “the promise we had hoped for or can’t be properly integrated into the overall Google experience.”

Prior to this announcement I hadn’t though of Picnik since highschool, when my friends used the service to add filters and/or unnecessary song lyrics to their Facebook photos. Ack. But how many people are still using Picnik? I checked the Compete.com data to find out.

Unique Visitors to Picnik.com is inconsistent over the past year, showing a decrease in visitors in the recent months. Visits per person has also seen a noticeable decrease since last March. Still, with 4,350,935 UVs in March, the site’s absence won’t go unnoticed. Thankfully, Mashable published an article today with 7 Picnik alternatives, but are these services actually viable options? I checked their Unique Visitors to see how many other people were using these other sites.

Even the most popular of the sites on Mashable’s list don’t get anywhere near as much traffic as Picnik did. This begs the question: which site will emerge as Picnik’s replacement? Have you guys tried any photo  editing sites? Which one is your favorite?
