PRLog - Mar. 20, 2014 - CHICAGO -- Today, A Taste of Theatre announces the opening of their second annual festival, scheduled for October 10-11, 2014 at Carver Military Academy. The newly renovated state of the art academy is located at 13100 S. Doty Ave. in Chicago, IL 60627. This festival will properly educate both actors and playwrights in this field with workshops and hands on training by Shelly Garrett, lauded as the “Godfather of Urban Theatre.”  Since its induction into the city’s renowned theatre community, the founder and owner, Victor Gulley, has worked tirelessly to expose, educate and entertain its participants.

The Theatre prides itself on operating under three basic principles:

1.       We believe everyone can learn and shine in their area of interest.

2.       We believe good playwrights deserve a place to showcase their talent.

3.       Every opportunity should provide a win-win-win scenario for everyone.

“Our goal as a theatre company is to uplift theatre to diverse audiences through entertainment,” states Gulley. “We want to celebrate Chicago’s rich theatrical culture as well as promote tourism in our great city. Chicago houses over 250 theatres that produce more than 1,000 shows annually.”

Gulley is giving playwrights the opportunity to have their work showcased during the festival, where you will be given the opportunity to vote on your favorite submission. The play with the most votes will receive the Shelly Garrett Award at the event’s conclusion.
