Ginika Chukwujama, a 31-year-old Italian designer, has experienced the nightmare of losing his full-time job. He wants to turn this misfortune into an opportunity and realize a longtime dream of running his own designer clothing company.
Realizing the instability of the European economic situation, Chukwujama planned ahead, saving enough money to create a designing company (Ginik). He has obtained a registered trademark and produced a designer line of ladies’ handbags and shoes, all made of pure quality Italian leather.
“These items are of extremely high quality,” says Chukwujama. “They compare favorably with the top name brands, such as Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana, and others. We have great products.”

What he is lacking is the financial backing and distribution capabilities of the “big boys.” Chukwujama currently has a license to sell on-line but he would also like to establish a bricks-and-mortar storefront, where he can market his leather goods.
He estimates his start-up costs to be around $550,000. This would cover a store license, leasing and development as well as website development, manufacturing, marketing and shipping. Donations of any amount are welcome. For a $250 contribution, Chukwujama will customize two Ginik products with the donor’s personal name on top as the official sponsor. In addition, the contributor will receive two Ginik items with the donor’s name imprinted on each item.
“I’m hoping that members of the Indiegogo community will help make my dream come true,” says Chukwujama. “I’m counting on this great community to provide encouragement and financial support in order to make my products available both on-line and in my own physical store. I’d really like to see the Ginik line available in the United States and other parts of the world.”
