The Arctic Circle based horror, Rage: Midsummer’s Eve will have its worldwide premiere in March.  Rage: Midsummer’s Eve tells a story about American and British friends living and studying in Finland who decide to take up an offer and travel to the Arctic Circle and Lapland to experience the midnight sun and celebrate the old pagan festival, Midsummer’s Eve. Whereas Halloween is widely recognized as “the official horror season” of the year in the USA and the UK, Midsummer’s Eve, which is celebrated widely all over the world during June, is a much older and scarier tradition than Halloween has ever been: Midsummer’s Eve and Summer Solstice are old pagan holidays connected tightly to witchcraft and spells. It has been celebrated for thousands of years.

The film was shot in Finland during the “white nights” in midsummer when the sun never sets. The crew credits include such blockbuster films, such as The Hangover, 2 Fast 2 Furious and Pirates of the Caribbean – At World’s End. The Director of Photography for the film is Lawrence Dolkart who has shot music videos for such artists as Stone Temple Pilots, Marilyn Manson and Jet, just to name a few.

“I used to spend many summers in the Finnish countryside when I was a kid and I always found it very creepy. I mean, I was there with my family or friends, but we were almost literally alone in the middle of nowhere surrounded by trees and old barns. The midnight sun is a great experience, but it can also be quite scary: Think about being in a misty forrest in the middle of nowhere. There’s absolute silence everywhere. No birds. No wind. And you know it’s the middle of the night, but you can still see the sun shining behind the trees. It’s very strange indeed,” Ms. Ricks says.

The main roles are played by British actress Holly Georgia with her country fellow Johnny Sachon (known in the UK for a his role in TV series Cloud 9 on ZingTV) and Finnish born actors with international careers; Christian Sandstrom who appeared as an FBI agent in 2009 film ‘Farewell’, Greta Mandelin and Michael Vardian.
