GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies Awarded $2.2M Contract with United States Navy

GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies (NYSE: GE) announces a contract with the United States Navy to provide remote visual inspection (RVI) equipment, operator training and data management software to the U.S. Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) inspection teams supporting the Atlantic and Pacific fleets. GE will supply XL G3 VideoProbes® outfitted with Menu Driven Inspection (MDI) software to help standardize the inspection process and increase accuracy and efficiency.

“Our solutions provide NAVSEA the right combination of hardware and software that will increase efficiency and productivity across a range of inspection needs,” said Jeff Anderson, General Manager – Inspection at GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies. “Our MDI software that comes with the XL G3 allows inspection groups to easily manage inspection data, which helps shorten a ship’s time at dock for maintenance.”

Onsite training will be provided on the features and functionalities of XL G3 and MDI as it relates to specific Naval inspection applications. GE’s Menu Directed Inspection is the first software tool to standardize the inspection process for field-portable equipment in the nondestructive testing industry. The integrated system helps guide inspectors through the inspection process and intelligently auto-generates a report, saving time, improving quality and increasing productivity.

The U.S. Navy will deploy the equipment to large Naval bases both within the Continental U.S. and overseas. The equipment will be used to inspect steam generation and rotating power & propulsion components on all non-nuclear powered naval ships.
